Steve Goetschius was among one of the most memorable of the town officials, and certainly the longest in service. Steve was borough clerk from 1910 to 1956, when he retired he was granted the honorary title of assistant clerk. Steve was part of the Goetschius family that lived in the Hopper-Goetschius house for over 150 years.

Peter J. Odo grew up in Saddle River and married Rosemary Otens of Upper Saddle River in 1942, just before shipping off to Officers Candidate School.
When he returned they built a house on Union Avenue, where they lived for more than 50 years
Pete served in Europe during World War II, earning five campaign stars, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for Anzio Beachhead.
