2011 Fund Drive
As the restoration of the Hopper-Goetschius House continues, there are two
projects which we hope to complete in 2011. In 2010 the painting of the exterior
of the museum and the restoration of the front porch were finished. At that time
we realized that the stucco facade on the front needed to be removed completely
and properly replaced and painted. In the 1800's the stucco was placed over the
front wall sandstones and then painted to look like sandstone. Our earliest photo
of the house from about 1890 shows this. The second project is to repair
buckling plaster in two rooms on the first floor of the museum.
